Summer 1 ~ Each July, the Teen Team (13 + years old) initially meets at 8:45am to begin their 6-month training. Early registrants will enjoy the Disney Half Marathon the following January or the Sarasota Half Marathon the following February. The bonus races are either the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13k race or the Expedition Everest Challenge, both in October!

Summer 2 ~ Each August, the Youth Team (10 to 12 years old) initially meets at 8:45am to begin their 3-month training. Registrants will enjoy either the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13k or the Expedition Everest Challenge in October.

Fall ~ Each October, the team initially meets at 8:45am to begin their 6-month training. Registrants will enjoy the Disney Minnie Marathon or the Muddy Buddy the following May. The bonus race is the Sarasota 5k or Half Marathon, depending on training schedule.
Tell me about the program...
Each program starts the runners at 3.5 miles and gently increases their distance training to 12 miles over the course of six months (7 miles for the Youth Team); we coach the safe and effective method of run/walk marathon finishing for the highest injury prevention. Proper stretching techniques, hydration and nutrition are provided as they learn to find their pace. Volunteering at races (to learn the mechanics of implementing a road race) and other charities are included in the six month schedule. Teen runners who demonstrate excellent performance will be allowed to join the “ShamRockers Brod” or “Pride of the ShamRockers” and train for longer distances such as half or full marathons additional to their program’s itinerary and will be eligible to become paid Co-Coaches.

This is the Dolman at the Blarney Castle, in County Cork, Ireland.
In May 2006, two of the ShamRockers (Garrett and Morgyn) spent 10 days in Ireland with Diane touring castles, enjoying maritime festivals with a dozen tall ships at the dock, the Guiness factory, the Book of Kells and so much more. They, and the rest of their running group, plan to return in the year of their 18th birthday.
Where will those ShamRockers go next?!
